In Canada, they’re a niche trivia legend — the only Canadian men’s team to win Olympic gold in football. Globally? Largely forgotten. Official Olympic gold — that counts for something. But… it was two games against the same amateur school team, in a tournament no one else really entered. Very limited. Occasionally referenced in Canadian Olympic history, but barely registers in footballing folklore. Winning Olympic gold should be iconic — but the lack of competitive context weakens the weight. No iconic goal, image, or line-up remembered. There is some old-school charm here. A team from Ontario travelling to St. Louis in 1904 to win Olympic gold? That's got a whiff of Jules Rimet spirit.
